Features of the Scheme

This scheme has been launched to establish Centers of Excellence in the field of mental health, which includes upgrading and strengthening mental hospitals/institutions, addressing the shortage of specialist human resources, and providing advanced mental health service facilities with a long-term vision.

Eligibility Criteria

The National Mental Health Programme. (NMHP) includes a scheme to establish Centers of Excellence (CoEs) to improve mental health services and human resource development. These CoEs typically upgrade existing mental health institutions or medical colleges, focusing on training mental health professionals and providing advanced treatment. NMHP also supports strengthening postgraduate (PG) departments in mental health specialties.
