Features of the Scheme
Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) form a network of public health laboratories across India, established to strengthen the diagnosis, research, and surveillance of viral diseases. These laboratories play a crucial role in managing infectious diseases and national disasters by enhancing diagnostic capabilities and responding effectively to viral outbreaks.
Eligibility Criteria
For the establishment of the proposed virus laboratory, an area of 140 square meters must be available. Additionally, faculty members from the microbiology department and their published research papers should be accessible. A detailed project report in the prescribed format, analyzing the gap between the available and required infrastructure, equipment, and furniture based on the nature of research, must be submitted to the Health Research Department of the Central Government.
