Ayurvedic and Unani methods of medicine

(a) Introduction:

Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga, Siddha and other government-recognised medical and drug treatment systems are included and controlled under the Directorate of Ayush. The Departmental Heads of the Directorate of Ayurveda are the Directors who are Assistant Director (Ayurveda) (Class 2) and Deputy Director (Homeopathy) (Class 1) Assistant Director Ayurveda, (Class 2) Chief Administrative Officer, (Class 1), Administrative Officer, (Class 2) Accounts Officers (Class 2) and Assistant Accounts Officers (Class 3) assist in the functioning of the Directorate. There are 3 offices of Assistant Director of Ayurveda, one each at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur and he works as the Regional Office Head. Apart from this, there is a resident medical officer for Ayurvedic research room with facility of 20 patients in Sassoon Sarvopachar hospitals of Pune. come There are four Office Heads (Principals) to look after the operations of Podar Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai, and Government Ayurveda Mahavidyalayas and affiliated hospitals at Nagpur, Nanded and Osmanabad.

All the work related to education and research related to Ayurvedic, Unani naturopathy and yoga systems and homeopathic medicine comes under the jurisdiction of this directorate. Broadly the operational programs of the Directorate are as follows.

1. Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy – naturopathic and yoga medicine modality education, a total of four Government Ayurvedic Colleges, one each at Mumbai, Nanded, Nagpur and Osmanabad, teaching the BMS (Ayurvedacharya) course prepared by the Central Board of Indian Medicine and There are 16 privately funded Ayurveda Mahavidyalayas. Also BUMS is the three Unani aided colleges running degree courses. Also there are 3 private unaided Unani Mahavidyalayas and 60 private unaided Ayurvedic Mahavidyalayas apart from which there are a total of 56 private Homeopathic Mahavidyalayas.
